City of Houston is set for Bright Light Projects 2021 Annual Fundraiser November 20, 2021

The City of Houston is set for Bright Light Projects (BLP) 2021 Annual Fundraiser scheduled for Saturday November 20, 2021 at the Hilton Houston Westchase Hotel, 1999 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77042 starting as from 7: PM prompt.

Bright Light Projects in its efforts to support Internally Displaced Persons and Refugees in Cameroon is implementing its flagship program called Girls Shall Rise (GSR) providing vocational skills training support to girls mostly Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), to empower them become self-reliant and contribute positively to their communities. BLP has a track record in providing transformative support through skills training in Sierra Leone, Guinea Conakry, Nigeria, and now Cameroon.

The ongoing Anglophone crisis in the North & South west regions of Cameroon has brought enormous hardship and suffering to villagers. Most of them have left the villages to seek refuge in Cities like Buea, Douala, Bamenda, Bafoussam, and Nkongsamba. Yaoundé, etc.

Earlier this year, BLP signed an MOU with Cameroon Opportunities Industrialization Centre (COIC) in Buea. Some of our beneficiaries have already started training September 2021 at COIC Buea. It should be noted this is the second MOU with an OIC affiliate. In 2019, BLP signed an MOU with Sierra Leone Opportunities industrialization Center (SLOIC) in Makeni where some of our beneficiaries have been trained under our Girls Shall Rise Program,

Another highlight of this event will be the recent United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) accreditation awarded to BLP on September 30, 2021. ECOSOC accreditation or ‘consultative status’ will provide for a more permanent relationship with the United Nations, and grants a higher level of privileges. BLP can now help raise public awareness on relevant issues; contribute with essential information at United Nations events, and organize side events during UN events as we continue to advocate for the UN Sustainable Development Goals

BLP is a 501c3 tax exempt organization and willfully accepts donations from individuals, businesses, cultural organizations, alma maters, etc. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by the law. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Event will be covered by Afro vibes TV & Radio as official media partners, MC by Dawn Paul aka The Dr. Dawn®, Keynote speaker E.E. Okpa, two times mayoral candidate for the City of Dallas.
