Saturday, August 19, 2023, was World Humanitarian Day. On this special Day, Bright Light Projects appreciates and honors all our team members, volunteers, donors, and partners who devote their precious time, their lives, and their resources to the service of others.
Across from The United States to Sierra Leone, to Cameroon, Guinea Conakry, and Nigeria we honor and appreciate all of our team members and volunteers, even if you have given us just one hour of your time. Thank you for your endless sacrifices in helping BLP’s vision to promote BLP beneficiaries to become self-reliant and contribute positively to the development of their communities
On this Day I was honored by the President of the United States with a Lifetime Achievement Award recognizing Franco and BLP’s enormous contributions in serving humanity. I truly do not deserve this and that is why I dedicate this to all our team members and volunteers on the frontline transforming communities one soul at a time. This is a big win for BLP and not for me.
Congratulations to the entire BLP team for all your sacrifices despite the difficulties and challenges you have to face sometimes carrying out your duties. This year’s theme #NoMatterWhat simply amplifies the fact that you go above and beyond to serve no matter the conditions because you understand it can never be worse than the challenges facing our beneficiaries daily
BLP has a simplistic approach to support and conduct non-partisan initiatives in rebuilding broken communities in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the domain of Skills Development (Vocational and livelihood Support), Gender equality and Social Inclusion, Human Rights (Disabilities, Women, Children & Youth), Refugee & Internally Displaced Persons Support (IDPs), Community Development & Sustainable Agriculture, Prison Inmate Reintegration, Education (Formal & Informal), STEM Education, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Franco Bonghan said “For a long time Africa has had the wrong diagnosis” How come six decades after an inflow of charity and Humanitarian Aid, Africa is worse off” This is because the West thinks Africa needs food and clothing to develop, but no country has developed form HANDOUTS, what Africa needs is a HANDUP through skills development, innovation, partnership as a pathway to self-reliance. BLPs heavily emphasizes youth empowerment through skills training as our best bet for the economic transformation of the continent as we strive to achieve the United Nations Agenda 2030, and the African Union Agenda 2063.
There is a need for increased global partnership and collaboration within the three pillars of sustainability namely: Social inclusion, economic development, and environmental protection for the greater concern for humanity.
You are all greatly appreciated BLP team and volunteers and Happy Humanitarian Day 2023. We also take this opportunity to thank all humanitarian workers worldwide who are sacrificing for humanity as we all strive to make the world a better place for all of God’s children. #NoMatterWhat, you are true champions for Humanity.
Thanks to People Empowering People (PEP Africa) for organizing this great event honoring such a day and issuing these recognitions on behalf of the White House in Washington.
