As part of its Environmental Sustainability campaign in Bamenda, Cameroon, Bright Light Project (BLP), in partnership with The Greens and ASDEPCO, launched an innovative Environmental School Program dubbed “Our School, Our Environment” at Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Mendankwe and Cambridge Secondary High School (CAMSCI) in Bamenda on February 14th and 15th, 2025.
The program aims to cultivate a new generation of environmental leaders and empower students to take action on climate change and conservation issues. The launch events, held on February 14th and 15th, were met with enthusiasm from students and teachers alike. Representatives from each partner organization shared their vision for the program, emphasizing the importance of environmental protection, waste management, and collective action. “We believe that young people are the key to a sustainable future,” said Shing Praise or another BLP representative. “This program is designed to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become environmental stewards in their communities.”
The Environmental School Program will run throughout the academic year, featuring workshops, field trips, and hands-on projects focused on conservation and sustainable living. Students will be able to develop their leadership skills and implement environmental initiatives in their schools and communities. Bright Light Project is committed to empowering young people to create a brighter and greener future for Cameroon
