On 26 February 2025, Bright Light Projects (BLP) successfully launched its Environmental Education Program titled “Our School, Our Environment” at Fomic Comprehensive High School, Sandpit, Buea. The program aims to prepare students to be critical thinkers, solution-oriented individuals, environmental advocates, and more. The initiative is designed to run throughout the year, engaging students in various educational activities and sessions. This program is not the first school campaign by BLP in Buea, last year BLP launched its STEM education program within the same network of schools.
The launch event involved a comprehensive introduction of the program to the students. BLP team visited each classroom, from Form 1 to Upper Sixth, to introduce themselves and provide an overview of the program’s objectives and structure, and expected outcomes to both the teachers and the students
Students were informed about the various aspects of the program, including its focus on critical thinking, problem-solving, environmental advocacy, and the promotion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. The representatives emphasized the importance of these skills in today’s world and encouraged students to actively participate in the program.
The first general educational session for the entire school is scheduled for Friday, 28 February 2025. During this session, the students will receive a more detailed presentation on the program’s content and activities. They will also be able to ask questions and engage with representatives from Bright Light Projects.

The students’ initial introduction to the program was met with enthusiasm and curiosity. We look forward to the upcoming sessions and the positive impact this program will have on the students’ educational journey.
