On March 29, 2025 Bright Light Projects (BLP) took a significant step towards environmental sustainability by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with New Vision for an Eco-friendly Environment, a leading organization dedicated to reforestation, sustainable development, and agriculture. The partnership marks the commencement of a collaborative effort under BLP’s “Reforestation Hope Project,” with the ambitious goal of planting over 5,000 trees in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
The MOU, signed in Bamenda, solidifies a mutual commitment between BLP and New Vision to address deforestation and promote environmental stewardship. The Reforestation Hope Project aims not only to increase tree cover but also to empower youth, particularly students, with a deeper understanding of the critical importance of reforestation versus deforestation. Through educational programs and hands-on planting activities, the project will foster a generation of environmental champions.
“This partnership is a game-changer for our Reforestation Hope Project,” said Shing Praise, Program Manager for Bright Light Projects. “We believe that no single organization can solve the complex challenges of environmental protection and sustainable development alone. Collaboration and partnership are essential, and New Vision’s expertise in reforestation and community engagement makes them an ideal partner.” The project launch is scheduled for April 2025, promising immediate action on the ground. The initiative will involve community tree planting events, workshops, and educational outreach programs targeting local schools and youth groups. Mr. Erasmus, Executive Director for New Vision, echoed the sentiment, stating, “This MOU is a landmark achievement for New Vision. It represents a new beginning and an opportunity to amplify our impact on the environment and the lives of young people in our communities.”
The Bright Light Projects Reforestation Hope Project, now bolstered by the partnership with New Vision, will contribute to increased Tree Cover with the planting of over 5,000 trees to combat deforestation and improve air quality, youth empowerment by educating and engaging students on the importance of environmental sustainability especially through practical exercises., sustainable agriculture through the Promotion of agroforestry practices that integrate tree planting with sustainable farming methods and community development by creating opportunities for community members to participate in environmental stewardship.
Bright Light Projects and New Vision are committed to working together to create a greener, more sustainable future for Cameroon. Stay tuned for updates on the project launch and opportunities to get involved.
