JOIN US FOR A PARTY WITH A GOOD CAUSE!

Welcome to Bright Light Projects 2022 Annual Fundraiser Gala. We appreciate your support and we hope to build on a much robust partnership in the future as we strive to deliver on our vision of supporting our beneficiaries to become self-reliant and contribute positively to the development of their communities.

Women and girls across the continent already experience discrimination based on gender across all areas of their social and economic life and taking care of their menstrual health and hygiene shouldn’t be another discrimination to be faced especially for rural women and girls.

UNESCO says 1 in 10 girls in Africa miss school because they don’t have access to menstrual products or because there aren’t adequate toilets to use at school. Others will drop out of school altogether sometimes due to lack of courage to deal with the “social Stigma” about menstruation.

“Period poverty can expose young girls to various infections as their inability to access affordable and safe sanitary products can lead them to using unhealthy alternatives, which puts their health and safety at risk.”

Some women and girls who can’t afford sanitary products use foam and cloth strips, for example, while others use newspapers and rags. Period Poverty limits the potential of Girls and women, and widens the gender inequality gap which is a major contributor to global poverty

The Solution: High Quality Reusable Sanitary Pads:

Based on our field experience across our different programs in different countries, we realized the urgent importance of providing Sanitation and Hygiene products for rural communities especially for young girls and women who already suffer disproportionate levels of inequalities.
