BLP Achieves Accreditation Observer Status with IPBES: A New Chapter in Biodiversity Conservation

On November 14, 2025, BLP proudly became an accredited observer organization with the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). This prestigious status grants BLP a vital seat at the table to contribute to global efforts in strengthening the science-policy interface for biodiversity and ecosystem services. IPBES, an independent intergovernmental body established by 94 governments in Panama City on April 21, 2012, focuses on the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, long-term human well-being, and sustainable development. While not a United Nations body, IPBES benefits from secretariat services provided by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), underscoring its alignment with international environmental frameworks.

This milestone builds on BLP’s growing portfolio of UN system accreditations, including our recent UNEP and UNCCD accreditations and our longstanding ECOSOC consultative status. Together, these recognitions position BLP as a key Civil Society Organization (CSO) advocate for resilient communities and environmental stewardship. By joining IPBES, BLP enhances its capacity to integrate cutting-edge scientific insights into our youth empowerment programs, reforestation initiatives, and sustainable waste management efforts, ensuring that biodiversity conservation remains at the heart of our mission.
