Reflect, Engage, Advance: BLP Assesses Progress and Deepens Impact at St. Rita of Cascia College in Buea, Cameroon!

Buea, Cameroon – February 7, 2026.  The Bright Light Projects (BLP) Buea team revisited key topics and activities from our *Our Environment, Our Future* Environmental School Program at St. Rita of Cascia College. This essential assessment session allowed us to evaluate students’ understanding, measure retention of core concepts, and gather insights to refine future sessions for maximum impact. Building on the program’s strong foundation, including the November 2025 launch, weekly Saturday engagements, and recent STEM-career integrations with partners like Her Innovation Cameroon, this mid-program review ensured we’re tailoring education to real learning outcomes.

About 80 students actively reflected on their journey, shared personal insights on environmental protection, sustainability, waste management, tree planting, and eco-stewardship, and posed thoughtful questions that revealed growing curiosity and awareness. Through open discussions, group interactions, and targeted feedback exercises, we celebrated strong comprehension in areas such as pollution prevention and the role of reforestation in food self-sufficiency, while identifying areas for reinforcement, such as deeper dives into circular economy practices.

This successful assessment highlights the program’s tangible progress within BLP’s broader *Reforestation Hope Projects*, now empowering 13,300+ students across 24 schools in Cameroon’s Northwest and Southwest regions, plus 15 schools in northern Sierra Leone. With 2,900+ saplings** planted toward our **100-hectare** restoration goal by 2028, and agroforestry initiatives enhancing community harvest resilience by up to *20%*, these sessions continue to build resilient, informed youth. The feedback from St. Rita will directly shape upcoming activities, ensuring every lesson builds on established knowledge and inspires lasting action. As one student shared, “We’ve learned so much, and now we know how to protect our future!”

BLP thanks the dedicated teachers and administration at St. Rita of Cascia College for their partnership. We invite supporters to help sustain this momentum—donate for educational materials, seedlings, or club rewards today!
