September 02, 2025 – Bright Light Projects (BLP) is proud to announce its official accreditation by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). This prestigious recognition underscores BLP’s dedication to sustainable development and environmental resilience, allowing us to engage more deeply in international efforts to combat desertification, land degradation, and drought.
About this Accreditation
The UNCCD, established in 1994, is a key international agreement linking environment and development to sustainable land management. Accreditation as an observer organization enables BLP to participate in UNCCD conferences, contribute to policy discussions, and collaborate with global stakeholders on innovative solutions. This milestone follows our ECOSOC accreditation in 2021 and UNEP accreditation earlier in 2025, solidifying BLP’s role in the United Nations ecosystem.

At BLP, we focus on community-driven initiatives that promote the adoption of renewable energy, climate adaptation for vulnerable populations, and awareness-raising campaigns. Our award-winning documentary, Choking the Highlands, has spotlighted the urgent impacts of environmental degradation in highland regions, earning accolades for its compelling narrative and call to action.
This UNCCD accreditation will amplify our efforts, enabling us to share expertise in sustainable practices and advocate for equitable policies that address the root causes of desertification. As climate change exacerbates land issues, BLP remains committed to fostering global collaboration for a healthier planet.
Looking Ahead
“This is great news for BLP, and we look forward to celebrating more wins,” said Jane Doe, Executive Director of Bright Light Projects. “We’re excited to bring our innovative approaches to the UNCCD platform and work alongside partners to create lasting change.”
