On August 19, 2025, Bright Light Projects (BLP) and CBC Radio Bamenda signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a pivotal step toward empowering youth and fostering community development in Bamenda and its surrounding areas. This partnership launches a dedicated radio program designed to leverage CBC Radio’s extensive reach and BLP’s expertise in community empowerment to address critical issues impacting young people and local communities.
The radio program will serve as a dynamic platform for education, dialogue, and engagement, focusing on key areas such as:
- Youth empowerment initiatives to promote knowledge and skills development
- Encouraging community participation in development through strategic partnerships
- Raising Awareness on Environmental Issues, especially Soil Conservation and Agroecology, and Agroforestry.
“This partnership is a game-changer for our community,” said Shing Praise W, Program Manager at Bright Light Projects, during the signing ceremony. “By joining forces with CBC Radio, we can reach a wider audience and deliver impactful programming that empowers youth and drives sustainable development.”
Under the MOU, CBC Radio Bamenda will provide airtime, state-of-the-art studio facilities, and technical support for the program series. A dedicated producer will work closely with BLP to develop and promote the program to a broad audience. BLP will lead the creation of engaging content, including scripts and interview questions, with support from CBC Radio Bamenda to ensure high-quality production.
Emmanuel Batoko, Station Manager of CBC Radio Bamenda, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are excited to partner with Bright Light Projects on this vital initiative. This radio program will serve as a powerful tool for positive change, addressing critical issues and empowering communities to build a brighter future.
Both organizations are committed to aligning the program with global and regional development frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and Cameroon’s National Development Plan, ensuring long-term, sustainable progress in the region.
