Houston, Texas, September 29, 2025 – Bright Light Projects (BLP) is thrilled to unveil its Annual 2025 Fundraising Event, a sizzling BBQ experience themed “Skills for Life, Hope for Tomorrow.” Set for Friday, December 05, 2025, in Richmond, Texas, this family-friendly gathering promises mouthwatering eats, inspiring stories, and a powerful opportunity to fuel transformation in war-affected regions of Cameroon.
For nearly a decade, the Anglophone regions of Cameroon have been gripped by conflict, displacing families, worsening hunger, and shattering dreams. Amid this crisis, BLP stands as a pillar of hope, rebuilding broken communities through skills development and entrepreneurship. Our motto, “Rebuilding Broken Communities,” guides us toward a vision of thriving societies where empowered individuals drive innovation and self-reliance.
This year’s fundraiser spotlights two of our flagship programs:
- Girls Shall Rise (GSR): Since 2018 in Cameroon and Sierra Leone, GSR has trained over 450 young girls, providing skills training and advocacy for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), violence against women and children, commercial sex workers, and women living with HIV/AIDS.
- Young Men Entrepreneurship Program (YME): Launched in 2022 in Cameroon, YME has empowered more than 89 young men aged 18-25 with entrepreneurship, mentorship, and second-chance education for societal reintegration.
Funds raised will train 50 students, including 30 girls through GSR and 20 boys through YME, in high-demand skills such as graphic design, glass cutting, welding, fashion design, hotel management and catering, motorbike mechanics, cell phone repairs, and more. Partnering with institutions such as the Cameroon Opportunities Industrialization Centre in Buea, the Sierra Leone Opportunities Industrialization Centre (SLOIC), and the Women’s Empowerment and Family Centre in Buea, BLP ensures excellence and a lasting impact. Graduates from our programs are already thriving, running successful businesses and securing jobs that uplift entire families.
