Bright Light Projects Rings in 2026 with Gratitude and Bold Vision for Youth Empowerment in West Africa Houston, TX – January 1, 2026

As the world welcomes a new year, Bright Light Projects (BLP) pauses to celebrate the unwavering spirit of its global community. From donors whose generosity lights the way, to partners forging paths of collaboration, team members driving daily change, friends offering encouragement, and family providing steadfast roots, BLP extends profound thanks for your sacrifices. Together, you have fueled a mission that transforms vulnerability into victory: training youth in West Africa with hands-on skills to launch small businesses, recover from profound loss, and reforest damaged lands—building community resilience one resilient step at a time.

2025 was a year of remarkable triumphs, made possible by your support. Through our flagship Girls Shall Rise (GSR) and Young Men Entrepreneurship (YME) programs, BLP empowered over 5,000 vulnerable youth across Cameroon, Sierra Leone, and Guinea-Conakry with vocational training in trades like sewing, cooking, solar installation, and agroecology. These initiatives not only equipped participants with marketable skills but also fostered entrepreneurship, leading to 95% of GSR graduates securing employment or starting businesses within six months. In parallel, the Reforesting Hope project restored more than 100 hectares of degraded land in Bamenda and Makeni, combating climate challenges while creating green jobs and promoting biodiversity. From Mend the Gap’s reintegration of 500+ Ebola orphans in Sierra Leone to advocacy through #LearnTeachSDGs, which reached 1,000+ ambassadors, your contributions changed lives one soul at a time through skills training, entrepreneurial sparks, and sustainable reforestation that sequesters carbon and revives ecosystems.

“2025 showed us the true power of collective action,” said Franco Bonghan, BLP Executive Director. “Every donation, every partnership, every hour volunteered turned despair into determination. As we look to 2026, we pledge bolder impacts: scaling GSR and YME to train 7,000+ youth, expanding Reforesting Hope to 150 hectares, and deepening Mend the Gap’s reach amid ongoing crises. With UN accreditations from ECOSOC, UNEP, UNCCD, and IPBES guiding us, we’ll amplify resilience in the face of climate shocks and social inequities, aligning with SDGs 1, 4, 5, 8, and 13.”

BLP’s commitment extends beyond gratitude; it is a call to action. With your continued partnership, we’ll reach even more communities, turning challenges into opportunities for equitable growth. Whether through a $50 school kit for orphans, a $250 startup business toolset, or a $1,000 cohort sponsorship, your investment plants seeds of lasting change.

May 2026 shower you with abundant blessings, good fortune, and deep fulfillment in your own commitments and divine undertakings. On behalf of the entire BLP team from Houston to Buea, Makeni to Forecariah, we wish you a Happy New Year. Let’s keep the light shining brighter together.
