Buea, Cameroon – March 30, 2026 – In recognition of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Waste, the Bright Light Projects (BLP) Buea team organized a vibrant school-wide clean-up campaign at Gratitude Islamic Secondary School in Buea Town.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about environmental cleanliness and promote responsible waste management practices among students and the wider community. Students enthusiastically participated in cleaning the school premises, properly sorting and disposing of waste, and practicing hygienic habits. The activity emphasized that maintaining a clean environment is not only an individual duty but a shared global responsibility for present and future generations.
The campaign fostered teamwork, responsibility, and environmental consciousness. The school’s environmental teacher played a key role in guiding the students and expressed sincere appreciation to the BLP team for their consistent collaboration and impactful initiatives. She noted that such practical activities significantly influence students’ awareness and long-term behavior toward sustainability.
This successful event reinforces BLP’s commitment to community development and environmental protection through our flagship “Our Environment, Our Future” program. By combining education with hands-on action, we continue to empower young people to become active stewards of their environment.

- Empowering 13,300+ students across 24 schools in Cameroon’s Northwest and Southwest regions and 15 schools in northern Sierra Leone.
- 2,900+ saplings planted toward our 100-hectare restoration goal by 2028 under the Reforestation Hope project.
